At First Onsite, we recognize that the work we do today impacts tomorrow. Our sustainability journey is underway, and we’re proud of the steps we’ve taken and the foundation we’re building.
Our role in responding to property losses — weather events, floods, fires, spills, and more — makes it clear that we have a responsibility to reduce our environmental impact. That perspective is helping shape how we operate and make decisions now and into the future.
Holding Ourselves to Global Standards
We’ve made a public commitment to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) — aligning our emissions reduction goals with climate science and global best practices. With support from Watershed, a world-leading sustainability platform, we’re establishing our baseline carbon footprint and setting near-term targets that will guide our path toward meaningful carbon reduction.
Limiting Impact to Landfills
First Onsite is expanding its recycling program to branches across the country, diverting claim-related building material waste away from landfills and into recycling centres. Utilizing the EcoClaim platform, we track what construction waste is diverted from landfill back to the specific restoration project and the insurance company associated with the claim.
Evolving Our Fleet
In 2024, we began integrating hybrid vehicles into our national fleet and we plan to continue adding additional hybrid vehicles while replacing lower-emission models as part of our longer-term carbon reduction strategy.
Restoration Over Replacement
We employ specialized equipment and utilize industry-leading practices within all of our facilities to restore a significant proportion of personal belongings and goods. This approach not only helps to minimize landfill waste but also offers our clients cost-effective solutions.
Collaborating for Greater Change
First Onsite is a founding member of the North American Green Council — a new industry initiative incubated by EcoClaim. The council brings together organizations across the claims ecosystem to explore collaborative solutions that reduce carbon emissions in our industry.
